How this plan fails
A generic adult go-bag does not cover formula, diapers, oxygen, refrigerated medication, mobility equipment, sensory needs, or animal transport.
/ avoid
Do not spend your first mistake here
- Assuming a public shelter can handle every pet or device.
- Packing adult food and forgetting formula, special diets, or medical supplies.
Dependents turn preparedness from a kit into a logistics plan. The question is not “do we have supplies?” It is “can this exact person or animal move, eat, sleep, medicate, communicate, and stay calm?”
Write the special needs down. Include medication names and doses, allergies, device chargers, backup power, documents, formula, diapers, mobility aids, glasses, hearing aids, sensory supports, comfort items, and pet records.
Then test the load. A carrier buried in a garage is not part of the plan. A wheelchair route blocked by storage is not part of the plan. A backup caregiver who does not know the pickup rules is not part of the plan.
Preparedness is only real when it fits the vulnerable people first.
